June Programs and Events

Adult Programs:

Cards in the Library - Thursdays at 4 P.M.
Each Thursday of the month, we play a different game. The first Thursday is Euchre, the second is Cribbage, the third is Hearts, the fourth is Dealer's Choice, and the fifth is Bunco.
Newark Knitting Circle - Thursdays at 6:30 P.M.
If you knit or crochet, come meet others to craft.
Crafting With Becky Sloane: Painting Flowers - June 5th at 6 P.M.
Continue to learn how to paint flowers with master crafter Becky Sloane!
Mah Jongg - Tuesdays at 5 P.M.
Whether you're familiar with this Chinese tile game or not, come to play!
Resume Help - Wednesdays a 1 P.M. and 4 P.M.
A resume is one of the most important documents that you can build, so if you need to create one from scratch or punch up an existing one, we can help you.
Board Meeting - June 8th at 6:30 P.M.
The monthly meetings of the Newark Public Library Board of Directors are open to the public, so if you're interested in the behind the scenes running of the library, feel free to sit in.
Worldwide Knit in Public Day June 10th at 10 A.M.
We're hosting an event for Worldwide Knit in Public day! Bring your own blanket and project to work on, or take part in the community yarn bomb we will be doing!
Makercraft: Make Your Own Pincushion June 12th 
In honor of National Sewing Machine Day, make your own pincushion, either a sew or no sew version.


Gadget Guide - June 12th and June 26th at 6 P.M.
If you have a gadget, tech toy, or any bit of machinery that's giving you trouble, bring it down to the library so that Graham, our resident tech guy, can help you out with it.
Having Trouble Paying Your Student Loans? - June 14th at 6 P.M.
The New York State Department of Financial Services will present a program designed to help you pay back your student loans!
Sewing School at the Library - June 15th at 6 P.M.
Come by to learn how to sew on new NPL sewing machines, which will soon be available for loan! We will be making a beach bag.
  
Yoga with Refuel Fitness - June 17th at 10 A.M.
A trainer from Refuel Fitness will be coming to the library to teach a beginner's Yoga class. Please wear comfortable clothes, and bring a yoga mat if you have one!

Board Game Night - June 19th at 4 P.M.
If you're looking for some Monday night fun, come and join us for a board game night! We have everything from Chess to Scrabble.
Beyond the Covers: Book Discussion - June 19th at 6:30 P.M.
June's book will be The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. Based on the story of a Belgian woman named Andree de Jongh, the novel follows the story of two sisters, Vianne and Isabelle, and their attempts to survive the German occupation of France during World War II.

Zumba with Refuel Fitness - June 24th at 10 A.M.
A trainer from Refuel Fitness will be coming out to teach a beginner's Zumba class. Wear comfortable clothing, and be ready to move!


Child and Teen Programs:

Preschool Storytime - Tuesdays at 10 A.M.
Join us every Tuesday morning for an hour of stories, songs, dancing, and fun!
LEGO Night - June 7th at 6 P.M.
Use the library's extensive collection of LEGOs to invent, build, and create!
