November Programs and Events

It seems like just yesterday that the library was the place to go to beat the heat, but as we move into November, it is now the place to go to get out of the cold! Cuddle up in one of our comfy armchairs with a cup of delicious coffee from Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters and a good book, or else use our computers for your work or gaming needs. While you're here, be sure to check out one of the many programs we offer:

Adult Programs

Mah Jongg - Tuesdays at 5 P.M.
Join us every week to play a relaxing game of Mah Jongg! Both newbies and seasoned players are welcome.
Resume Help - Wednesdays at 1 P.M. and 4 P.M.
Need to punch up your existing resume or create a new one from scratch? Library staff will be here to walk you through the process and answer any questions you might have.
Morning Craft - Thursdays at 10 A.M.
Every Thursday morning, we have a different relaxing craft to make!
Cards in the Library - Thursdays at 4 P.M.
We host four sessions of different classic card games each month. The first Thursday will be Euchre, the second Cribbage, the third Hearts, and the fourth is the dealer's choice.
Adult Craft Class - November 7th at 6 P.M.
With both Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner, Becky Sloane is here to help you with decorations and gifts! This month's crafts will be pine cone elves and vintage style lace-painted ornaments. Make sure you sign up for the class, as space is limited; there will also be a supply fee of $7.
Adult Reading and Book Discussion Series - November 9th at 6:30 P.M.
This month's play for discussion in this series will be John Pielmeier's Agnes of God. Join Joe O'Toole for a thought-provoking discussion of  the themes of goodness and evil within the play.
Board Meeting - November 10th at 6:30 P.M.
The Newark Public Library Board of Trustees meets once a month to discuss the running of the library. These meetings are open to the public, so if you are interested in what goes on behind the scenes, or if you have any ideas for the library, feel free to stop by!
Friends of the Newark Public Library Book Review Luncheon - November 18th at 12 P.M.
Each month, the Friends of the Newark Public Library host a luncheon, where they invite a speaker to discuss a book they've read over a delicious lunch. This is a very popular event with limited seating, so make sure you register! Note that the date has been changed, due to the Veteran's Day holiday on the 11th.
Adult Writer's Group - November 25th at 4 P.M.
Whether you are a published writer or have never shown your work to another person, there is a place for you in our writing group! join to exchange ideas, critiques, and motivation.
Gadget Guide - November 14th and November 28th at 6 P.M.
Our resident tech expert, Graham, is here to help you out with any device that is giving you trouble.
Medicare 101 - November 18th at 4 P.M.
Medicare can be tricky to navigate, but you don't have to do it alone. Drop by the library, where we will have medicare specialists that will be able to walk you through the process and address any questions or concerns you may have.
Board Game Night - November 21st at 4 P.M.
We have a variety of board games available - everything from Scrabble to Yahtzee! Join us once a month for some unplugged fun.
Beyond the Covers: Book Discussion - November 21st at 6:30 P.M.
For the November meeting of our book club, we will be discussing The Japanese Lover by Isabel Allende. Books will be available at the main desk for club members.
DIY Holiday Gifts: Sugar Scrubs - November 30th at 6 P.M.
For those who are looking for a simple yet personal gift, come to this class to learn  how to make three different kinds of sugar scrub.

Child and Teen Programs

Preschool Storytime - Tuesdays at 10 A.M.
Every Tuesday, all children are welcome to join us for reading, dancing, singing, crafts, and other fun!
LEGO Night - November 2nd at 6 P.M.
With the amount of LEGOs we have to play with in the library, the only limit to what you can build is your own imagination!
Teen Movie: Teens Pick! - November 7th at 6 P.M.
For November's Teen movie, we are allowing you to choose what to watch! As always, make sure you sign up for the event.
Minecraft Club - November 9th at 6 P.M.
Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world, and it contains almost limitless possibilities. Join us to check out this great game, and play with friends.
Family Movie: The Angry Birds Movie - November 14th at 6 P.M.
Bring the whole family to the library for a screening of the Angry Birds movie, based on the popular video game.
After School Tech Project: Take Apart a Computer! - November 16th at 3 P.M.
Have you ever wanted to learn what makes a computer work? We'll be cracking open some old computers in order to check out what's inside.
