As you can see by the graphics in the right hand column,
2014 was a very busy year for Newark Public Library. 120,000 people visited the library in 2014—up
4,000 from 2013. Public computer use
increased from 12,090 in 2013 to 13,027 in 2014. Although circulation transactions decreased
slightly this year (largely due to the renovations in May and June), the
library remained an important resource for the Newark community.
The library will
continue to offer the services our community expects in 2015. We plan to evolve and offer new services our
community demands as well. Books still
out-circulate any other items in our collection, but movies, CDs, video games,
magazines, and audiobooks are extremely popular as well. The library offered amazing programming last
year and will continue in 2015. Access to technology and the internet are
increasingly important to our patrons, therefore we’ve added more public access
computers. We hope to offer new
services, like 3D printers, and will continue to give one-on-one technology
assistance.
